Forget-Me-Not (True Forget-Me-Not)
Myosotis scorpioides
   Borage family (Boraginaceae)
Blooms mid-May
- mid-September

The non-native (Eurasia) Forget-Me-Not is uncommon in our area. It prefers partial sun and wet to moist loamy soil. Habitats include low areas along ponds and slow-moving streams. This "old world" garden escapee is a 6-20" tall perennial with alternate leaves, 1-3" long and ¼-¾" across, untoothed, and lance shaped. The central stem (and any lateral stems) terminates in a 2-10" long raceme of small strikingly beautiful flowers. The apex of the raceme curves laterally and slightly downward like a scorpion's tail. Each flower is about 1/3" across with 5 sky blue petal-like lobes.
