The non-native (South Am.) Common Morning Glory is common in our area. It prefers full sunlight and moist to slightly dry conditions. Habitats include fields, roadsides and waste areas. This vine is a summer annual that can grow to 10' long and climb fences and adjacent vegetation. It has alternate, untoothed, heart-shaped leaves up to 4" long and 3½" across. Cymes of 1-5 flowers occur at the axils of some leaves. The pedicels of the flowers are up to 4" long. Each purple, blue, pink or white, funnel-form flower is 2–3½" across and about as long. Each flower blooms once during the morning, only one day.
