Heath Aster (Many-flowered Aster)
Symphyotrichum ericoides (Aster ericoides)   [C-value 5]
Aster family (Asteraceae)
Blooms mid-August - mid-October

The native Heath Aster is uncommon in our area. It prefers full sun and average to dry conditions. This perennial grows to 2' tall and branching to create a bushy appearance. The linear alternate untoothed leaves are up to 3" long and ¼" across toward the base of the plant, becoming less than 1" long and 1/8" across near the flowering stems. The small compound flowers, about ½" across, are very numerous. They have a daisy-like appearance with numerous yellow disk florets surrounded by about 12 white ray florets.
