Anemone canadensis   [C-value 4]
Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae)
Blooms mid-May - July

The native Meadow Anemone is uncommon in our area. It prefers full or partial sun and moist conditions. This perennial has basal leaves about ½' tall and flowering stems about 1-2' tall. The basal leaves are 3-6" long and similarly across. Each basal leaf is deeply divided into 3-5 primary lobes that  subdivide into 2-3 secondary lobes. The flowering stems have pairs of opposite leaves in 1-2 tiers. Above each tier of opposite leaves, 1-3 flowers are produced from pedicel about 2-4" long. Each white 5-petaled flower is 1-1½" across.
