Ox-Eye Daisy
Chrysanthemum lucanthemum
Aster family (Asteraceae
)
Blooms mid-May - October

The non-native (Eurasia) Ox-Eye Daisy is common in our area. It prefers full or partial sun and slightly moist to slightly dry conditions. Habitats include slightly dry prairies, weedy meadows in wooded areas, vacant lots and areas along roads. This perennial is 1-3' tall with alternate leaves along the central stem. The leaves are up to 5" long and ¾" across, becoming smaller as they ascend the stem. The central stem terminates in a single flower on a long stalk. This flower is about 1¼–2" across with 15-35 white ray florets surrounding numerous tiny yellow disk florets.
