Drymocallis arguta (Potentilla arguta)  [C-value 9]
Rose family (Rosaceae)
Blooms mid-June - mid-July

The native Prairie Cinquefoil is uncommon in our area. It prefers full sun and slightly moist to dry conditions. Habitats include dry black soil prairies, hill prairies and abandoned pastures. This perennial is up to 3' tall and unbranched. The central stem is stout and covered with spreading white hairs. The pinnate compound leaves are also covered with white hairs, and consist of 3-11 leaflets. The leaflets are up to 3" long and 2" across. A tight cluster of flowers occurs at the apex of the plant, sometimes with smaller side clusters. Each flower is about ¾" across with 5 white petals.
