Bog Goldenrod
Solidago uliginosa   [C-value 10]
Aster family (Asteraceae)
Blooms mid-August - September

The native Bog Goldenrod is rare in our area. It prefers a sunny location in wetlands, wet meadows or fens. It is a perennial, 2-5' tall, with with erect stems that are often deep red, with lance-shaped, usually toothless, and stem-clasping leaves. The larger basal leaves can be 9" long and 1 1/2" wide. The dense yellow flower clusters are usually angled closely to the stem and some can be arching panicles with flowers arranged along the top side. The bright yellow flowers encircling the stalks are about 1/4" long with 1-8 petals.
